In both previous races he'd come from way behind (last in the Preak, I think?) but the jockey had NO? dirt on him after this race. It's like he knew this was the big one and it was time to show everybody he was the greatest ever. Great horse and great team!

It's amazing how? far people have come, that we can grade other creatures. It's neat to think that after the west was won, and all of the horses that contributed, that this horse, this guy may be the best horse that ever existed. Can you imagine having something like that pulling your buggey. My god, what a great beast.

80cathryn I think he [IHA] can do it!!since his greatest competition has decided not to run in the Belmont. I would like to see another. However from now on TC winner or not they ALL will be compared to this? magnificent horse Big Red

horses dont give up. At that distance...those horses are tired. He opened that gap because no horse could run with him. He? ran each quarter mile faster than the one previous...while other horses slowed their pace, big red was able to increase his. They did not give up...he was just that good.

just watched this on starz HD, good movie. Just had to see if the ending was? exaggerated, apparently not. Secretariat is a beast of biblical proportions. A beast a BOIST a BOIST.
By: fullstrutn. on 23 May 12, 12:42:26
those others? didn't give up ,,second place pays preety well too!!!
By: raltommo. on 23 May 12, 10:10:39
So they just gave up cause they knew they almost had no chance to win the race ? Thats kinda sad ... not good for the competition and? sport in general.
By: ErichRemarque. on 23 May 12, 01:10:01
I think the size of the field was due at least in part to Secretariat's dominance in the previous races. ?
By: ARRRRRRRRFUL. on 22 May 12, 22:49:32
I wouldn't believe that if I saw it? on TV 40 years ago...
By: 80cathryn. on 22 May 12, 19:04:25
it was more like: "WOW!" "We will never see? that again".
By: 80cathryn. on 22 May 12, 19:00:13
since Sec won by breaking records in derby and preak, everyone was pulling out. no matter. it might have been a match race between sec and sham and look what happened anyway. ? Sec ran against the clock because no horse could that fast on that day, and no one has come close since then.
By: 80cathryn. on 22 May 12, 18:57:31
I want to say this before the notion? comes up about I'll Have Another. First IHA is a fine horse, good enough to win the Derby and Preak by a nose. And if he's good enough to win Belmont then he deserves to be a Triple Crown winner, one of only 12 horses to do so. In this light, he deserves every credit. No doubt he knows how to pull out a win. If you want the greatest, the most dominant, & greatest equine athlete ever, then you are talking Secretariat

By: twinsrule1991. on 22 May 12, 01:15:18
158 people are dumb. This was one of the greatest events in history and they don't like it. Those people must also think the 1980 Miracle hockey team? was bad too.
By: baseballheaven2009. on 22 May 12, 01:01:43
just watched the movie...but to see how it actually looked....holy shit?
By: sevelev711. on 22 May 12, 00:39:28
Unbelievable. That a single animal can go that fast and win by? that much.
By: lynnify6. on 21 May 12, 13:51:00
This horse was phenomenal!!!...no other horse has come? close to his speed!!!
By: 80cathryn. on 21 May 12, 05:30:06
Really? IHA at least has proven to have stamina enough to leg out a win by a neck in? two races. Congrats. Select group of horses have done that. But Secretariat dominated his fields. Won races in different and in compelling manner. he circled field in 1st turn & ran away w/ Preak; he ran faster every 1/4 in Derby; and he executed the greatest racing performance of all time in Belmont - IHA isn't in the same sport as Sec. Sec was truly a rarity - 1 of a kind. Like Sec...hardly.
By: Beautyforless18. on 21 May 12, 01:56:57
Did? you know he was run 49 mph it's crazy
By: nutballgazette. on 21 May 12, 01:27:53
Secretariat still has the record time in this and the Kentucky? Derby and if the official timer in the Preakness did not mess up would still have the record time in the Preakness,
