The current model year Impreza is much slower than this car. They removed the sporty aspect of the 2013 Impreza entirely, because this car does what the base N/A Impreza never could quite achieve... The WRX with its turbo awd certainly has a place in the world ... but a light RWD? car with a great chassis can give you a connection to the car, tires, and road better than almost anything else. It's what makes the Porsche Boxster so well received.

Exactly! Finally someone who gets? what I was trying to say. They obviously had the resources and the time to make a full-fledged race car out of the BRZ, but they for some reason didn't, which pissed many people off. The fact that we have to deal with this slow piece of junk for 2 years until they release the Sti spec is like a slap in the face. If you think about it, it's basically a better looking base model Impreza. My 10 year old WRX is better than a BRZ, imo...

I think subaru did the right thing. Answered peoples dreams of an affordable sports car. Now, making the car? have power as well will deff increase sales. IF the make it less than affordable and less than sti. I would pay 30-35k for a sti style brz. Brembo brakes. Upgraded wheels, tires, n suspension. Along with a 300hp turbo. The car would do 0-60 in 4 secs. Name another car that could compare to the performance and handling both, for leas than 60, let alone less than 40k

To me, this platform looks more like a Subaru than a Scion. I don't think the FR-S needs to exist. We need more cars like this. Who cares about track times and whatnot? A car needs to be made to be driven. Not thrown around a track or down an interstate at illegal speeds. A good car makes the drive something of its own. Most people buy these cross-overs so they can carry family members or friends along for a ride (as well as their gear), in which case even the? Subaru would be underpowered and fail to drive up the ramp. This video is bogus. The rear wheels aren't shown on purpose, so they can lie about the other? vehicles (though they are telling the truth about the Subarus). The voice over keeps saying the other cars don't transmit power to the rear wheels. But they have added a steep step for the rear wheels to surmount before the car could move forward (you can see this when a car does move forward, it first rises up in back). So the test does show that Subarus transmit more power to the rear, but that's it.

Ok, I believe Subarus have great AWD systems, but the only AWD cars I've ever owned were Volvos (whose AWD is not shown here). In other videos on You Tube, Volvo is portray by Subaru partisans as totally useless. Not my experience! To see a good You? Tube video on an XC90 AWD system see Osons 4X4 mag 'Volvo XC90 6 cylindres Sport'. The spelling is correct--he's French.

The forester is indeed AWD all the time, but on a? normal driving surface, about 80 percent of the power is coming from the front tires and about 20% from the rear tires. The thing is, it is always sensing the roads surface and "sending" power to the appropriate tires. In a subaru, power is always directed to the tire with the most grip.

I'm not so sure, I have a 1993 Legacy and when one wheel looses traction it transfers power around just fine, and it's much much less advanced than your Forester, open dif at the back and no ABS lol. In a recent snow storm I drove it around with just 14" "all weather tires" and it was just? fine. Also the difference is that Legacy has all that crazy VDC and stuff on it, that costs quite a lot, wouldn't be surprised if that Legacy had a 32k price tag at the time.

I had a '98 Forrester and a '02 Highlander AWD. The Subaru ran rings around the Toyota. I was thoroughly dissapointed with the Highlander's AWD in snow - it was horrible. My Subaru would go through anything. I got my Highlander stuck going on a slight DOWNHILL in 8" of snow on? an asphalt driveway - tires were new. I wish Subaru had made the Tribeca in '02 and that I had seen this. Toyota = never again!

yes it does. listen to some vids of stock exhaust on the 2011+ models and airbox mod vids. the intake silences the engine noise pretty good and most people would be annoyed if they had to listen to a loud engine everyday. Evo is not an everyday car its sacrificed a lot? to be a little bit quicker than the sti and most people dont put up with it hence the discontinuation of the evo x.

It's a beautiful car, but have any of you driven one? This is a fun car, but if you want a "good" car this is not one. look at the older sti's starting with 08 and they are falling apart. It really is sad cause they are so awesome looking, but? looks aren't everything. After researching them and driving them I would never buy one. But it's all my experience.

I could not agree with you more, Sir. I own a 2000 Impreza and it looks great! My friend's 2003 STI was co-designed by a Formula 1 designer. I loved the STIs till 2004 and they kept them looking sport even after? -but now, they're selling fat sedans.

Hmmm I have to be honest when I was driving on the highway the other day, I saw a new wagon. I assume it was a brand new hyundai, I speed up in my gf4 only to be shock that it was an 2012 Impreza. I never being so turn off by any Subaru model before. in real life it didn't look sporty nor quirky or akward. my old gf4 look more sporty. I guess? why you no watch video before commenting? A gp bike would of been beaten badly by the WRF on this course because of the way it is, very tight, agile turns. I don't think this car is meant to be a high horsepower speed demon. I think they were going for nimble and well balanced. This thing has an almost 50/50 weight dist. front to back. And whoever chooses their vehicle simply by HP is missing out on so much of the driving experience. Yeah there is. There's something fundamentally wrong with having four wheels and asking two of them to do both the steering and the driving. Not to say some FWD cars don't handle well but the same car with the rear wheels driving it will always have a higher cornering limit. There's a reason why? all of the major race cars are RWD or AWD, while FWD is easier to control for the inexperienced driver (average person).

Dude, i'm aware that the BRZ would get spanked by an M3. Hence why I called it slow. I was trying to inform him that the Subaru has upgraded the STI, and in my opinion the STI remains a bang for the buck. My fully loaded 2011 was 38k out the door 41k sticker price. As for your daily driver opinion, if I wanted a daily driver I would have bought a WRX instead of the STI. To answer your question: Why not get the new GT? Look around you. BRZ cant lap laguna seca as fast as an M3.... the mustang can.... And he is right STI's are too expensive for what they are now. Before they had great bang for the buck when they were around 35-40k well equipped now your lucky to get that price. So why not get the new GT which can be tracked? as fast as an M3. Not to mention if it is going to be a daily driver the Mustangs engine which is double the size manages to get better fuel economy which is just plain stupid.

For 2011 the Chassis? was completely reworked. Pillow-ball bushings were added for more corning ability, ride height was lowered by 10mm, spring rates increased to 15.6% in the front/53% in the rear and antiroll bars on both ends are thicker. Also the tires are fitted to lighter (4.4lbs. per corner) BBS wheels. Not to mention in 2010 you still couldn't get a sedan. I also think it's important to note that even the new slow ass BRZ is preferred over the mustang by experts. (youtube BRZ vs mustang)

Subaru needs to lose some weight, and come up in power. The STI was stomped by the V6 stang, let alone the fact that it cost more than a decently equipped GT that would rape it. A little understeer was intentionally dialed into the chassis of STI's because it is easier to? correct than oversteer. However, i have yet to experience the legendary understeer problem on my 2011. In fact, with the DCCD set to Auto - mode the car oversteers like a rear wheel but still had the computer saving your ass. The versatility is awesome.

A ricer is a car? that is not built to perform yet is made to look like it can perform by adding exterior elements that have no performance function. Take for instance the hood scoop. On the WRX/STI, the hood scoop has a function. It's meant to allow ambient air to enter into the car's intercooler. On the Shelby GT, "the hood scoop is just a disappointing decoration". So you tell me, which car is the ricer? The WRX/STI? Or the Shelby?

You know what? I don't know what happened, but over the weekend I kept obsessing over this model to determine why? I didn't like it. I found that the 2.0i model is why I hated it. But the premium and limited models with the different rims, make it look A LOT better. The interior is a bit bland, but I think Subaru is still in an option.

@homersimps1 Agreed. This 2012 model looks like it's a revamped version of a 2002 Ford Focus for heaven's sake! Subaru's styling was much better at the end of the 90s and into early 2000. Looks like I'll be hanging onto my old '98 for a while? yet.

Emme, I am in the market for a new car. I was looking at getting a Honda Civi LX, manuel transmission. That is until I read that the new (non-hybrid) Hondas are experiencing some battery problems. It seems that after a 3-4 days of not? running a new 2012 Honda the battery will start to drain and die. The dealerships are saying that this is due to back ground technology running off of the battery even when the car is off. Any help would be awesome! Your videos are very helpful, thanks a million!

Screw Xenon, the new LED technology is the future. Its brighter and lasts way way longer then the Xenon and it costs less. I never thought that the auto manufacturers would use it but Audi is already using it on they're new models. So I'm? sure a lot of manufacturers will follow.
