I think you were referring to the right to bear arms, which is the second ammendment to the US constitution and it forms part of the Bill of Rights.? I wasn't comparing the total number of crimes committed in the US with Aus, but rather the crime rate per 100,000 people. So these rates take into account the differing populations between the two countries, and the crimes rates i mentioned are higher in the US than in Australia. Anyway, my point was just that weaker gun laws won't fix our problems

I'm Australian and whilst I like the idea of us having a bill of rights (we already have a constitution), one needs only look at US history to realise that having a bill of rights doesn't always protect citizens from crime and discrimination.
