That's true but I just like Cream's version better personally because I like electric guitar? better with other instrument's like drums and bass and this recording has pretty bad sound quality compared to modern times.Hopefully RJ's songs and his recordings last for years to come and are known by younger generations though because he influenced so many rock and blues musicians that came after him and was so great

When Clapton plays within 500 miles, I'm there...when he quietly walks on stage there is a presence and whether? he simply kicks off with a song or says"good evening or Hello Seattle, etc." and then goes right into it even the teenagers along with mom and dad fans know something big is about to happen...I highly recommned seeing him whenever possible.

I respect what you're saying, and I do agree, they make weed out to be something that it's not. But even if he is just being ironic, that line really did make me sit down and think for some reason. I don't know why, but it did. And I think another reason that line hit me in that way, is? because right after is when I found out about my cousin. And again, I'm not saying pot is evil and all this stuff, it's just that I'm afraid that if my own cousin is so easily influenced,I might be too.

Whatever works for? you is great, but I'm pretty sure he's being ironic. In my opinion, he's doing an imitation of William Burroughs' vocal style on this song, and William Burroughs was the king of doing drugs. I do think marijuana can lead to heroin for some people, and maybe that would have been you, but for most it simply isn't true, and all the propaganda out there that says it does makes me mad. (And no, I don't smoke pot.)

I'm not criticizing people who smoke weed, do whatever you want, but? I have to thank Tom Waits for something he did. I was going through this stage where I thought drugs were so cool and I wanted to do it, but then I found this song. The one line where he says, "Just like marijuana leads to heroin." They made me snap out of it so quickly, a heavy hit of realization, and I thank him for that. Come to find out, my cousin started smoking weed this summer, and now he is addicted, trying new drugs.
