Looking at these tropical country's threw the eyes of a tourist or through "rose tinted"glasses just obscures what life is really like for the folks that have to live there,some are living in real poverty. A lot of people from Barbados, Jamaica etc whom now live in the UK naturally have great memories of home but sadly when they try to retire there all they find is people trying to get money off? them.Also many come back due to increasing huge medical bills,which can ruin the wealthiest person.

I love Barbados, such an amazing place. I spent 10days there and made some local friends and had a blast. As far as racism goes, the white american tourists who think they can order everyone around like servants are more the racist ones (i can say that do to the fact i am a white american). Everything is in? "island time" haha 1 american minute is equal to like 30 barbados minutes, so don't expect anything to get done too hastily. Its so beautiful there, a piece of my heart is there.

How can anyone not love Barbados? I'm a Brit, I lived there for 10 years and the people are wonderfully tolerant of others. ? I've travelled the Caribbean and nowhere is friendlier. Barbados has a great infrastructure, NHS, and NIS. It's amazing. The island is stunning with a gorgeous coastline, public beaches, and turquoise sea. But there is poverty just like anywhere else. Those in deteriorating chattel houses don't all live in them through choice. x Love Bim x

I am from Barbados and I have also lived in Engand and travelled widely. There is no? poverty in Barbados. The USA has poverty galore. In fact the standard of living in Barbados is even much higher that in the UK and many other places that I have lived or visited. Barbados is not Jamaica

Exactly. I have been let out of jail on Probation with fines of course I'm gonna pay those because if not I could go 3 yrs.In the 2 yrs it took me to pay my fines, I think because I was giving them so much money I was never tested,never did random home visits,never called my jobs,etc.I worked 2 jobs and basically gave them every extra penny I had as to get? it paid off as quickly as possible.But if I had already done my sentence there's no way I'd give them money.Not a red cent!

She was very fortunate to be able to be reunited with her children, in some countries were people smuggle drugs it would be a life sentence. I am happy she got a second chance with her children. I don't think she was a bad mom, she was just young and made some mistakes. She was lucky to have a good mom? that helped raise her children while she was in prison and not let her children forget about her.

My mom took me to Barbados 44 years ago. I remember they used to come to Toronto every year for a long time. I was thrilled to see them when they came and played here, Niagara On The Lake, 2 years ago in 2010. My mother, as I do, have every vinyl record cover that was produced. I don't? have the link, but if you search you will be able to see all the album covers there ever was. The covers are like a photo album to me. Search the net, you can find all produced. Don't forget the recording studios!

Yes, I am Bajan born and? bred, as the saying goes. And I was truly impressed with how vivid your memories of Barbados are. We've developed a lot over the years, but there are still those special little spots that haven't changed that much. Nothing's more enchanting than to see a sunrise on East coast road or to watch the green monkeys frolic in the garden, picking the golden apples out of the trees. Now I hear the they are so bold that they are posing for photos in Sandy Lane. SMILE

Hi BB, Are you Bajan? My mom took me to Barbados in 69. I kept going every year until 89. It almost hurts to think of it, those were very special years, Wish I had breathed in deeper, relished every moment a little more. Sailing up the coast on the Jolly Roger & dancing to the Merrymen!? It was so beautiful. Such special days! I will always remember eager to feel the sweet hot air hit my face when the plane landed, facing the planes doors waiting for them to open & that Barbdos air rushing in!
