He may have went after I left. It was 5-9 and I left at? 6:30. Today is the burial service at 10. Pancho passed the day after the fight in Gulfport. It was an ugly situation from the start. He never moved after going down. Great fight, tragic ending. I didn't know about C.J. He should do pretty good. Have to sit down on his punches more. The amateur style is sometimes hard to break. I wish they never brought in clickers and computers. That's the main reason I left. Tell C.J. I said best wishes.

I'll put the other rounds on soon. Slow connection. Good close fight. C.J. won this round with the flurries even though some were landing to the arms/gloves. That pro junk don't work in the ams.

That's sad. No I'm not going a long distance to just watch an amateur show. Tyler and Jared are both 140's now. Sparring wouldn't be a problem because they always sparred with bigger guys. I don't think they'll fight anymore. Jared had been training a little with me lately and looks SHARP, but they have too much other stuff going on. I've known Keith? for years. Tyler trained the other day for the first time in 18months and looked pretty sharp and did more than I expected. We have been discussing the pros, but talk is cheap right? Gotta bring it! Yeah, CJ has been to the Nationals a couple of times. That quick stuff is what the ams look for regardless if it's landing or not. Sammie did good for being? the lesser experienced kid. I'm going to get the other 2 rounds on here when I find the disc since I'm finally high speed. Sammie corner him a few times and went to work, but that pro style of blocking don't work with the computer scoring. No more ams for me unless for experience to go pro.

Sammie knew how? many fights CJ had and had watched him many times. Fast but no power. Been to nats. I really need to get the other rounds on here. If that fight was now, Sammie would stop him. Everybody knew Sammie had heavy hands. He blocked most of these punches with his arms/gloves using that pro style that don't work in the ams because sounds like they land, but watch close you'll see. 1 judge gave Sammie 0 points and I know he landed a few. I'm done with ams. Computer scoring stinks!

This was 5 years ago and only one of these was my boxer. I never posted videos of my? boxers sparring with each other. I rarely video'd but would set up a camera for study sometimes. I won't post those. Everybody sparred with everybody back then in my gym. I had kids 4'11" 95lbs that would lite guys up much bigger than them. When you fight someone your size, it's that much easier.

these kids are lucky as hell! they get to spar with a lot of people their size and weight! i'm 15 years old 5'0"(don't laugh) 107lbs.(don't laugh) and stuck at my gym sparring with hell adults and shit! i don't recall getting the opportunity to face legit boxers near my? size or weight. i want to join amateur boxing so to get ready i ask them not to go easy(and their tall!) i used to always get knocked out by body shots. but now i'm used to giant opponents. my handspeed and power is surfacing.

That's what you see. If you go in another mans gym with your boxer, get in the ring coaching your son, and your kid has the height, reach, and weight that punch would have NEVER landed if he had not pulled back off the miss and turned away. Sammie could have knocked him out anytime if he wanted to. He slipped and threw the punch around? the gloves. Sounded worse than it was. I had HUGE 16oz gloves on Sammie to the other's 10oz. This is the main reason I hate to spar with people from other gyms.

My guys have their mouthpiece in when they go though the gym door and take it out weigh they weight out. Nobody spars in my ring w/o headgear. I have 2 dozen? sparring, comp/AIBA headgear for this reason. I recently watched my first ring death of a kid I watched grow up. I was sitting with his family ringside. Pancho was a good kid, 3x National Champ Mexican American southpaw heavy with power. KO'd everybody at J.O.'s and GG's. It still haunts me, I was out a while other than Jones/Lacy..

1) as much safety - FIRST, ALWAYS. 2) Headgear is required in amateur bouts and you had better be able to fight in it. If you think you can spar wtihout it? then enter a match and fight with it ON, and be okay with it you're sadly mistaken. The purpose of sparring is to simulate a fight as much as possible (less unnecessary injury). I'll even do an entire training session with my mouthguard from jump rope, bag, pads, sparring to cool down.

Why is that? I'm the white kids coach and I'm white. That is the other kids dad in my ring in this 5 year old video. I had 16oz gloves on him and was holding him back. 1) they were 14 years old amateurs licensed with USA Boxing so to avoid? liability in my gym I demand it. Lawyers love ignorant people! 2) Although the actual brain shake is just about as much as without headgear, it does help fighters avoid swelling, cuts, etc,. Most injuries in combat sports occur in training, not the actual bouts. It is as elementary as protecting your hands with wraps.

Crying shame he was like a son. That's not me in the ring, that's the other kids dad a former pro coaching him. You only hear me from the? corner telling Sammie little things. I held him back until the 30 second buzzer the coaching got on my nerves, my kids too. We used big gloves anyway lol. I never posted my kids sparring with each other, but I should now..it's very entertaining! I still have the training camp, but left the amateurs because they've ruined it. Thanks for the compliment!

gosh that's a shame dude, looking at? this guy sammie you can easily tell what a good trainer you are, that kid had skills too!. But anyway i know you must have had big reasons to retire and that's ok. By the way i agree with you about body punching being rarely seen this days that's why i enjoyed your video so much. I only fought amateur for my university team for 4 years; I'm 5'7" and fought light welterweight with guys 6' and up, so body-punching was a primary strategy 4 me :D

Sammie and his brother we called Flea basically lived with me for long periods of time. These kids become like sons. Flea has been in jail a while. Sammie knows his potential. He also knows I don't do things half way and hasn't been ready to commit to it. Other than a bunch of tattoos, he's still the same kid. He does seem mentally tougher now. I guess running the streets got old finally. He told me he wants to? do something with himself. Thanks for the encouraging words!

he may just really need motivation... keep him interested and talk to him about his potential because he looks good! Let him know that training leads to success and show him by frequent sparring sessions (but dont torture the kid lol) let me know how everythings? coming along with him

He came to the gym? for the first time in over 3 years last week. Sammie isn't a cocky kid. I told him Imma put you in there with him and pointed at the middleweight and he grinned and said aight. They worked with each other good while it lasted. I hate to say it, but he looked pretty sharp other than getting winded. It actually made me angry. HA the middle was with an older guy I coached when he was 14-15 that has natural power that wasted it for some years. I'll post one soon.

i know exactly how you feel... Many talented boxers fall off in training. thats exactly why so many young up & comers can catch up to their skills. its like the ones that are not good show determination everyday! (which is good) it just sucks to see so many men with talent waste it on the streets. At my gym when a veteran misses alot of practices then march in the gym like? their all that... strap up the gloves/headgear... SPARRING TIME!

Well Sammie showed up at the gym today and looked really good for over 3? years other than getting winded. I think he's serious about going pro. Anyone that can spar after that long and be sharp would be a dummy not to at least try. We'll see. Be a shame to waste such natural skill and power. I'll get some grown up footage of him on soon. ;-)

i havnt sparr someone my age or weight for long time im 14 141 and im sparing guys like4 22 24 and 27 like 160+ for sure and my coach yells at me for not letting my hands go as much as i do? as ppl around my size so im leaviugn to a new gym no reason a 14year old should get hit as hard as i do in sparring when there is other kids in the gm like 9-17 not saying sparring a guy leess then 11 but gezz
